Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. By giving your time, compassion, and skills, you help ensure individuals and families in our community receive care, dignity, and hope when they need it most.
We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities to fit different schedules, interests, and experience levels. Whether you can serve weekly, monthly, or just once, there is a meaningful place for you here.

The Salvation Army Mission Statement
Mission Statement:
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
Before getting started, please review the important information below:
Important Requirements
• Volunteers under age 18
Any volunteer under 18 must complete a background check and Safe From Harm training before beginning any volunteer activity.
• Court‑Ordered Community Service
At this time, we are not able to verify or sign off on court‑ordered community service hours.
• Programs Serving Vulnerable Populations
Any Salvation Army program involving vulnerable adults or minors requires volunteers to complete a background check and Safe From Harm training prior to participation.
Emergency Disaster Services Volunteers Needed
In addition to our ongoing volunteer opportunities, we invite compassionate, dependable individuals to consider serving as Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) volunteers. EDS volunteers play a vital role during times of crisis—offering care, comfort, meals, and hope to individuals and families impacted by disasters in our community.
When disaster strikes, trained volunteers are often the first sign of help and reassurance for those affected. Your willingness to serve could make a life-changing difference when it matters most.

Reminder: Keeping Scheduled Volunteer Shifts
Thank you for your commitment to serving our community! Please do your best to keep your scheduled volunteer shifts. When volunteers are present as planned, meals are served on time, families receive assistance without delays, and programs run smoothly.
If something unexpected comes up, please call 239-278-1842 or email FLAVOLUNTEERFTM@uss.salvationarmy.org or call the location where you’re scheduled. Phone numbers are listed under each location in the Opportunities tab on the volunteer portal.
