Mission Statement:
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
Before getting started, please review the important information below:
• Volunteers under age 18
Any volunteer under 18 must complete a background check and Safe From Harm training before beginning any volunteer activity.
• Court‑Ordered Community Service
At this time, we are not able to verify or sign off on court‑ordered community service hours.
• Programs Serving Vulnerable Populations
Any Salvation Army program involving vulnerable adults or minors requires volunteers to complete a background check and Safe From Harm training prior to participation.
Reminder: Keeping Scheduled Volunteer Shifts
Thank you for your commitment to serving our community! Please do your best to keep your scheduled volunteer shifts. When volunteers are present as planned, meals are served on time, families receive assistance without delays, and programs run smoothly.
If something unexpected comes up, please contact Devin Whitney at 239-278-1842 or Devin.Whitney@uss.salvationarmy.org or call the service center where you’re scheduled. Phone numbers are listed under each location in the Opportunities tab on the volunteer portal.
Providing as much advance notice as possible helps us make adjustments and continue delivering excellent care to those who depend on us. Thank you for being an essential part of our mission!
