Thank you for your interest in becoming a Volunteer Mentor with Probation Services in the South West. We include both Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire (BGSW) Probation Services (BGSW) and Dorset, Devon and Cornwall (DDC) Probation Services, and are part of Kent, Surrey and Sussex Community Rehabilitation Company (KSS CRC).
Our Volunteer Unit covers the whole of the South West, working with service users aged over 18. Volunteers generally work on a one-to-one basis in the community assisting service users by helping and supporting them through their various issues, with the ultimate aim of preventing re-offending.
Please note that all volunteers must be over the age of 18 and will need to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check - we will organise this for you at the interview stage.
Please read through the Role Profile and Person Specification below, as well as some of the ways that our volunteers support service users - just click the symbols further down the page to find out more.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer after reading through these, we would ask that you please submit an application online. Click 'Fill in an application' on the right to start.
If you are unable to complete an application online, or if you have any questions, please email us at the addresses below so we can send you a paper copy:
email@example.com for DDC applications
firstname.lastname@example.org for BGSW applications.
When we receive your application, we will check it and will contact suitable applicants to invite them to an interview. Please tell us as much detail in your application as we will use this for shortlisting. If you are successful at this stage, you will need to successfully complete the training and receive acceptable DBS and reference checks to enable you to join us as a Volunteer Mentor.
We look forward to receiving your application and to working with you soon.
