Volunteer Opportunities with Youth Programs Include:
Adoption Art Ambassador for Teen Volunteers - Volunteers in this assignment help create a beautiful and welcoming environment for potential adopters visiting our shelter. Adoption Art Ambassadors have full creative freedom in creating a memorable backdrop for adoption photos. Volunteers in this role will decorate our adoption lobby's chalk wall with adorable, seasonal art that reflects our excitement.
Shifts scheduled: each month on the 2nd and 4th Saturday from 9 to 11am
Youth Programs Assistant - Cultivating a child's curiosity about animals is rewarding for humans and pets alike! As a Youth Programs Assistant, you will have the opportunity to help children in our community connect with animals and learn how to be responsible pet owners! Volunteers in this role will assist with setup, preparing materials, and supervising events such as Animal Allies and Kids CARE Club.
This is an on-demand role with no set shift schedule
Teen Photographer - High-quality photographs that capture an animal’s personality get pets adopted. It’s a fact. If wrangling animals isn’t your speed, we can also use boots on the ground to capture AWLA events and community programs for social media, emails, direct mail, and our image library. Whether either or both, this is a great opportunity to use your photography skills for good!
This is an on-demand role with no set shift schedule
Summer Camp Counselor-in-Training (CIT) - Each summer AWLA hosts 8 weeks of camp for kids ages 8-13. Teen volunteers can assist our summer camp counselors during a week of camp by prepping crafts, bringing SCAs to camp for a meet and greet, and assisting with setup and cleanup for the day.
Shifts scheduled: Mon - Thurs from 8am to 4pm for one week of camp
