2024 Santa Claus Parade - Event Volunteer - Costume Characters (Ages 15+)

Event Time: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Event Location: Eagle Street and Main Street

Event Description: Come welcome Santa Claus to Newmarket at our annual Santa Claus Parade. Bundle up and bring your family and friends to see the festive holiday floats and walking groups followed by our special guest - jolly Old St. Nick.

The parade starts at the corner of Eagle Street and Lorne Avenue, proceeds east on Eagle Street to Main Street, then continues north on Main Street, finishing at Ontario Street. 

Volunteer Opportunity: The Town of Newmarket, in partnership with the Santa Claus Parade Committee, are looking for high-energy, cooperative and friendly, high-school aged youth (ages 15+) to dress up as costume characters, mascots and Santa's elves during the Santa Claus Parade event. 

Volunteers will required to attend the mandatory Volunteer Rehearsal on Friday, November 15, 2024 at the Town of Newmarket Municipal Offices (395 Mulock Drive) from 7 - 9 p.m. These hours can be included as part of your total volunteer hours.

On the day of the Santa Claus Parade, Saturday, November 16, 2024, Volunteers will be required to arrive at the Town of Newmarket Municipal Offices (395 Mulock Drive) for 8:30 a.m. Costumes will be provided the day of the event. Your shift will conclude at approximately 1:30 p.m.

In the event the number of volunteers exceeds the number of costume characters, mascots and Santa’s elves costumes that are available, volunteers may be re-assigned other duties to further assist with the parade.

If you are volunteering for the purposes of High School hours, please ensure you bring your Volunteer Hours Form with you for completion. Volunteer Hours Forms should be completed with your contact information prior to submission. 

 

**Volunteers must be capable of walking the full duration of the parade and are asked that they are not accompanied by family members, friends and /or pets**
