Mayor & Council Office Intern Duties
Council Meeting Support
- Observe Council meetings to gain an understanding of local government operations
- Help staff speaker table during evening Council meetings
Community Engagement
- Assist with planning and implementation of Volunteer Appreciation event
- Assist with planning Town Hall Meetings
- Assist with planning Mayor’s Holiday Party for Seniors
- Attend Council meetings, community meetings, and public events
- Take photos and draft social media content highlighting city initiatives and community events
Constituent Services
- Respond to constituent requests and inquiries under staff supervision
Administrative Support
- Answer phones and greet visitors in a professional manner
- Prepare meeting materials, agendas, and informational packets
- Organize and maintain office files
- Draft proclamations, correspondence, certificates, letters, and routine communications
