This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
The City of Arlington is offering a volunteer opportunity in the Long Range Planning Division of the Planning and Development Services Department. This department works with others to make Arlington a premier City by engaging in visionary planning, building vibrant neighborhoods, and serving our residents, businesses, and visitors.
Responsibilities:
- Assist planning staff with organizing planning-related documents, maps, and outreach materials.
- Support public engagement efforts by helping prepare materials for events, open houses, and workshops.
- Help with event logistics, including setup, wayfinding, sign-in, and material distribution.
- Provide general administrative support such as document formatting, proofreading, and assembling engagement materials.
- Assist in maintaining records of outreach activities.
- Observe planning meetings and engagement activities to better understand long-range planning processes.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Interest in urban planning, civic engagement, public service, or related areas
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and organized
- Comfortable interacting with the public in a respectful and professional manner
- Proficient in basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Willingness to take direction and complete tasks independently or in collaboration with others
