Medical Device-Related Pressure Injuries
Have you or someone you know ever been affected by a medical device-related pressure injury, which resulted from wearing a medical device such as an endotracheal tube, BiPap, CPAP, Splints, Foley Catheters, IV connecting tubing or oxygen tubing? Or perhaps you have experienced pain related to a medical device during a hospital stay. If so, we are looking for someone to join a corporate initiative with the purpose of reducing Medical Device-Related Injuries, and would like to hear from you!
The project will include identifying gaps in knowledge of staff related to pressure injuries, the development of a protocol for assessing the risk of a patient for acquiring a pressure injury, determining ways to increase collaboration between interdisciplinary healthcare teams (specifically respiratory and nursing but also allied health teams), implementing the new tools and developing an evaluation of the project.
Skills / Experience: A patient or family member who spent time in a healthcare setting and who they themselves or their loved one acquired a skin injury, or experienced pain as of the result of wearing a medical device.
Time Commitment: Less than 5 hours a quarter (quarterly meetings)
