Cat Care and Enrichment Volunteer

CAT CARE & ENRICHMENT VOLUNTEER 
ENRICHING LIVES, ONE PAW AT A TIME! 

As a Cat Care and Enrichment Volunteer, you will be responsible for providing care, exercise, affection, and socialization to the cats and kittens in our care. Your tasks will include teaching them basic skills and behaviours through positive reinforcement techniques, as well as monitoring and reporting any medical or behavioural changes as necessary. 

 

By participating in this role, you will play a key part in enhancing their physical and mental well-being, by reducing emotional stress, and boosting their immunity.  Your efforts will contribute to improving their overall health and happiness! 

 

KEY DUTIES INCLUDE 

  • Play and socialize with cats/kittens in their rooms
  • Assist with grooming
  • Clean and disinfect cat cages, litter boxes, kennels, collars, enrichment items, and other supplies as needed
  • Document food intake, cat behaviours and reactions after each enrichment interaction

POSITION REQUIRMENTS  

  • 15 years of age or older
  • Able to commit to at least 1 shift (2-3 hours) per week for a minimum of 4 months
  • Experience caring for, and comfortable interacting with cats and kittens of varying breeds and temperaments
  • Ability to use an app or website to manage your volunteer experience and log your volunteer hours
  • Ability to follow all biosecurity protocols, including wearing PPE (i.e.: gloves, gowns, masks, etc.), as required
  • Ability to lift 13.6 kg (30lbs) and to stand for long periods
