Welcome to the Volunteer & Internship Home Page!

At Neighborhood House, volunteers and interns are at the heart of everything we do. Whether you're supporting families at the Food Markets, tutoring new immigrants and refugees, creating safe spaces for youth, or helping out behind the scenes, your time and talents make a powerful difference.

We offer a wide variety of volunteer and intern opportunities, including one-time, ongoing, and group roles. No matter how you get involved, you’ll be part of a welcoming, mission-driven community where your contributions are deeply valued.

Getting started is easy! Here’s what to do:

  1. Fill out the application – You’ll find the link in the upper right corner of this page. This helps us get to know you and what you’re interested in.

  2. Schedule a quick interview – If you're signing up as an individual volunteer (not part of a group or a social work intern), we’ll connect with you for a brief 30-minute conversation to learn more about your interests and share next steps.

  3. Group volunteers – After submitting the application, you'll receive a follow-up email with more information on how to get started.

  4. Orientation & onboarding – After your interview, you’ll be invited to a New Volunteer Orientation. Depending on your role, we’ll also provide any program-specific onboarding to ensure you feel confident and prepared.

  5. Please note: If you feel you haven’t heard from us in a timely manner, please check your junk or spam folder, as our emails occasionally end up there.

We’re so excited to have you join our community of changemakers. Let’s get started!

Community Outreach & Engagement

Neighborhood House is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help with Community Outreach and Engagement, a key area of our mission to strengthen and support the St. Paul community. As a volunteer in this area, you will play a vital role in connecting with residents, gathering feedback, and building relationships that promote positive change.

Administrative Program Support

Neighborhood House is seeking detail-oriented and organized volunteers to assist with administrative tasks that keep our programs running smoothly. As an Administrative Program Support volunteer, you will play a behind-the-scenes but essential role in ensuring services are efficient, accessible, and well-coordinated.

This role is ideal for volunteers who enjoy working in a structured setting, have strong organizational skills, and want to contribute to the success of Neighborhood House’s programs. Whether you have experience in office work or are looking to develop new skills, your support will directly impact our ability to serve the community effectively!

Family Center Support

Support families at Neighborhood House by assisting with basic needs, providing translation support, and creating a welcoming space. Volunteers may help distribute essentials, connect families to resources, and assist with language interpretation to ensure everyone feels heard and supported. This is a great opportunity to make a direct impact on families in our community!
