Volunteer Opportunities

Social Connections- Parksville/Nanaimo

If you’ve got a hobby you love, this is your sign to share it.

We’re looking for volunteers who want to bring a little creativity, connection, and joy into our programs through social support activities. Whether you’re into arts and crafts, photography, gardening, music, games, or something totally unique, there’s space for you to turn that interest into something meaningful.

This isn’t about being an expert. It’s about showing up, creating a welcoming space, and helping people feel connected. You might lead a small activity, support a group, or simply spend time alongside participants, encouraging creativity and conversation.

Some days might look like painting or crafting around a table. Others could be tending a garden, going for a photo walk, or just sharing a coffee and good conversation. You’re welcome to bring the same activity each time or mix it up depending on your interests. What matters most is consistency. A regular, reliable presence helps build comfort, trust, and connection.

If you enjoy working with people, are open-minded, and want to make a genuine impact in a relaxed and supportive environment, this could be a great fit.

Bring your ideas. Bring your energy. We’ll support the rest.

Community Kitchen - Nanaimo

As a Community Kitchen Support Volunteer, you’ll help prepare nutritious meals that make a real difference in the lives of people we serve through our programs in Nanaimo. Volunteers assist with a variety of food preparation tasks such as baking, making sandwiches, preparing soups and stews, and packaging meals for distribution in our programs.

This hands-on role takes place at our Community Kitchen on Bowen Road, where you’ll work alongside staff and fellow volunteers in a welcoming, team-oriented environment. It’s a great opportunity to share your cooking skills (or learn new ones!), support food security in your community, and be part of a caring network that helps nourish and uplift others.

Chaplaincy Program

ICCS chaplains are volunteers who serve as part of the ICCS team by offering a ministry of presence, listening and encouragement. Their role is to walk alongside those in our programs, providing hope, spiritual care, and pastoral support where welcomed. Chaplains affirm the religious and spiritual freedom of all people and do not impose doctrine or personal beliefs.

Vision Statement

To provide shelter and care for those in need, reflecting the love of God in loving one another.
