Volunteer Programs

Animal Transport

Animal Transport is one of the most rewarding ways to volunteer!  We typically utilize volunteers to pick-up urgent medical cases from Austin Animal Center and bring them to our clinic. In these cases time is of the essence and typically occur between the hours 11am-3pm.

These opportunities pop-up, typically unexpectedly.  Join our APA! Transport Request Facebook group to see needs as they arise and volunteer for them!

At-Home Opportunities

ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:

Adoption Follow Up- A remote position that assists adoptive parents with their questions after adopting from APA!

Adoptline- A remote position that helps answer inquiries from the public regarding an animal they are interested in adopting.

Cat Care

Cat Enrichment

Help us enrich the lives of the kitties that live on campus at APA!

Community Support

Help our PASS program! (Positive Alternative to Shelter Essentials) This program provides resources and services to Texas residents who are experiencing challenges to keeping their pet(s) with an overall goal of keeping pets out of the sheltering system and providing a safe, judgment-free zone for anyone in need. Our team can provide emergency pet food, pet resource assistance, and referrals to outside social service and animal welfare agencies.

Dog and Cat Marketing

Want to really move the needle in helping our dogs and cats find their forever home? The APA! Marketing team may be right for you!

Marketing is crucial in helping the wonderful dogs and cats of Austin Pets Alive! shine and stand out to potential adopters. Most positions allow you to choose your own schedule and how much you'd like to volunteer, too. Our primary goal is to present every adoptable animal individually on the APA! website, so each one is irresistible to their perfect adopter. Our website is our number one tool in finding our shelter/foster pets their forever homes. Together we can make this happen!

Dog Enrichment

Dog Enrichment- Join our Dog Enrichment Team to help us provide daily in-kennel enrichment to our dogs at TLAC! Enrichment helps stimulate the mind and can reduce stress and boredom of the shelter environment. Our enrichment volunteer team help clean, stuff, or distribute frozen treats daily!

Dog Walking

Dog Walking- Ensure APA! dogs get the walks, exercise and TLC they need (and deserve) every day. Walkers are most needed before 11am and after 5pm to meet our dogs basic needs, but trained walkers are welcome all day long. *Additional training is required. Must be at least 16 years of age.
