Are you passionate about giving fantastic customer service and want to bring to life history with your fantastic customer service and storytelling?

As venue operations volunteer you will have the opportunity to support all aspects of our museums / attractions day-to-day operations alongside our venue team. You could find yourself welcoming visitors at our front desk, bringing to life our wide variety of displays and exhibitions with your fantastic storytelling, working with our duty-management team to coordinate venue operations or even work in our café serving a variety of refreshments and beverages. Full training for all aspects of the role will be provided. 


What to expect :

Our volunteer roles are designed to be tailored around you, your interests and your skills. Some of the things you could be up to include:

  • Managing admissions and welcoming visitors to the venue using our ticketing system – Training provided.
  • Guiding visitors through our exhibitions and experiences brining to life our collections with exciting and immersive storytelling.
  • Working within our café to serve a variety of hot and cold refreshments to our guests.
  • Supporting with the set-up, take down and coordination of special events and programmes.
  • Work with our venue team to open, close and manage the day-to-day operations of the venue from building presentation, safety checks and operational management.
  • Manage the safety and wellbeing of our visitors in the case of an emergency.
  • Guide, mentor and support other volunteers (younger and neurodiverse) to develop, grow and learn alongside the venue team. 

This is of course not exhaustive as your volunteering will evolve around you and your skillsets. Full training, guidance and support will be provided. 


Skills and Experience :

Ideally to be comfortable in this volunteer role we think you will need to have:

  • You must have a passion for amazing customer service – Essential.
  • A passion for history, arts and culture is certainly beneficial but not essential.
  • You must be comfortable interacting with a variety of people in a number of formats.

As a result of volunteering in this role you will get:

  • Experience in F&B operations including basic food hygiene training.
