Newcomer Youth Leadership Development

NYLD Mentors assist staff in creating, planning and running of activities and workshops. They build relationships with NYLD participants and attend monthly mentor meetings.

Time Commitment:

• Ten-month commitment preferred

Qualifications:

• Must be an active participant of the NYLD program, between the ages of 13-24.
• Volunteers age 18 and above will need to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening from their local police service before their first day of volunteering and every three years on the anniversary of their first day of volunteering.
• Must be an active participant of the NYLD program.
• Experience and sensitivity dealing with people from different cultural, racial and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Must demonstrate strong leadership and teamwork skills
• Responsible, punctual, outgoing and friendly while demonstrating a willingness to learn.
• Must be confident speaking English.
• Only qualified candidates will be invited for an interview.
