College / University Student Placement and High School Co-op
College/University student placements in the Newcomer Youth Leadership Development (NYLD) program partner with NYLD Advisors to plan and deliver programming to youth. During placement they will learn about program planning, workshop facilitation and relationship building.
Time Commitment:
- Flexible shifts, Monday to Friday.
- Minimum one shift per week for three months.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age 15.
- Successful applicants 18 years of age or older will need to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening from their local police service before their first day of volunteering and every three years on the anniversary of their first day of volunteering.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Strong ability to relate with diverse people.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality; be sensitive to member’s needs.
- Proficiency with the use of computer and office equipment.
- Proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English.
