MS Society Leadership Volunteers - MS Society Council - Public Awareness

Purpose

The Interior Regional Chapter council will consist of a group of leadership volunteers who will bring knowledge, expertise or interests in and will have responsibilities in one or more areas of the organization; fundraising, research, programs and services, government relations and advocacy, and public awareness. The purpose of the council is to exercise collective influence to provide insight and leadership to advance to advance the mission. 

 

BCY REGIONAL CHAPTER COUNCIL PUBLIC AWARENESS LEAD ROLES are responsible for overseeing, leading, supporting, and advancing the MS Society’s work in this area across the Chapter. The leads will work in close collaboration with their staff partners and in collaboration with the Fundraising, Research Programs and Services and Government Relations and advocacy Leads on the Council.  

Time Commitment

One year minimum. Attend Council meetings.

Duties and Responsibilities

May be involved in one or more of the following areas:

 

  • Builds capacity by working closely with staff partners to create strategies to advance goals and engage other in Public Awareness activities 
  • Directly contributes time, skills and expertise to advance work to increase Public Awareness of MS and the MS Society  
  • Provides input to Chapter planning
  • Form/leads Public Awareness committees and helps with recruitment  
  • Reaches out to personal/business networks to engage them in Public Awareness activities 
  • Informs the BCY Regional Chapter Council 
  • Participates in meetings with Public Awareness Leads across the Division 

 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Be knowledgeable and supportive of the MS Society’s plans, initiatives and key messages.
  • Participate in training and development.
  • Work with MS Society staff to further the aims of the MS Society.
  • Take a leadership role in Public Awareness to achieve outcomes that will benefit people with MS.
  • Provide on-going input and feedback to the MS Society on matters that affect the Society.
