6. CATS: Socialization
Spending quality time with our cats can help put them at ease amongst so many unfamiliar sounds, scents and shelter stresses. In addition, experienced volunteers are needed to work with cats and kittens that are fearful or under-socialized in order to bring them to an adoptable status, and/or to lessen the chances of an adoption return. Volunteers in this role also help refresh cages to keep the kitties comfortable and healthy.
Successful completion of three consecutive 2-hour training sessions is required, with a subsequent volunteering time commitment of at least one 2.5 hour shift per week. Volunteering shift times are flexible, but begin after 11am.
