COMPANION VOLUNTEER
Bring comfort, connection and companionship to older people and patients in our care.
As a Companion Volunteer at Buckland Nursing Home, Bindaree Retirement Centre or within our Hospital Ward, you will provide one-on-one social support and meaningful interaction for residents and patients, particularly those who may have limited contact with family and friends.
How you can help
- Spend time chatting, listening and engaging in meaningful conversation.
- Read aloud, share stories and encourage social connection.
- Support residents during walks and enjoy time together in our beautiful gardens.
- Provide companionship and a friendly presence for those who may be feeling isolated.
- Help create positive moments that enhance a person's day.
What we're looking for
- A friendly, caring and reliable approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy, patience and respect for people from diverse backgrounds.
- A genuine interest in supporting the wellbeing of older people and patients.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow staff guidance.
