The Township is committed to environmental responsibility and stewardship, through the promotion of a healthier and more resilient environment.
Invasive Species Removal
Invasive species are plants, animals, insects, and pathogens that are introduced to an area and cause harm to the environment. Volunteers help with assessing public spaces and are trained on how to properly remove and dispose of invasive species, such as phragmites, giant hogweed, spotted knapweed, etc. The Township provides supplies, including signage, shovels, waste bags, and safety vests, among other tools to support volunteers. Skills: Basic knowledge of the natural environment, environmentally-focused, passion for beautifying and preserving green spaces, working with small tools (e.g. shovel, rake, etc.).
Litter Pick-Up Volunteer
Volunteers help by enhancing public spaces by picking up litter along roads, beaches, trails, parks and green spaces. The Township provides supplies, including signage, trash grabbers, safety vests, waste bags, and other tools to support volunteers. In addition, all garbage collected will be picked up and disposed of by Township staff.

Gardener
Community Garden Coordinator: The Community Garden, located in Perkinsfield Park, is a space to plant and care for vegetables, flowers, and herbs. Volunteers help oversee this space by communicating with gardeners, volunteers, and township staff, organizing community initiatives within the garden (cleanups, foodbank garden, etc.), and providing any horticultural information to the gardeners. Skills: Knowledge of gardening, local food, and/or wildflower gardens, independent, enthusiastic about gardening and/or local food, working with gardening tools (e.g. garden hose, wheelbarrow, etc.), team player, friendly, reliable, supervisory experience is an asset.
Community Gardeners: The Community Garden, located in Perkinsfield Park, is a space to plant and care for vegetables, flowers, and herbs. Pollinator Gardeners: As a designated Bee City, Pollinator Gardens have been created to help our pollinators thrive, while also beautifying the public spaces. Volunteers help by planting and maintaining one (or multiple) of the many gardens in the community. The Township provides monies, supplies, and resources to volunteers. Dog Park Monitor
The Off-Leash Dog Park is located at CBO Park (2 Winterset Avenue) and offers a large dog enclosure and a small dog enclosure. Volunteers help with the operations of the park, including educating the public on park rules and etiquette, reporting maintenance needs, and creating a positive environment for park users. Trail Monitor
The Tiny Trail is a 23-kilometer recreational multi-use trail and is part of the Trans Canada Trail System. Volunteers help to monitor, preserve and protect the Trail system by educating the public on the history of the Trail, removing any litter, and reporting maintenance needs. Boardwalk & Beach Conservation
The Township of Tiny has 70 km of shoreline and five Major Beach Parks: Woodland Beach, Bluewater Beach, Jackson Park, Balm Beach and Lafontaine Beach Park. Volunteers act as stewards of our beaches and combine various volunteer roles (invasive species removal, litter pick-up, etc.) into one position.
