Recreation Programs - Outdoor Pickleball Drop-in Attendant

Position Purpose / Goals

  • Provide a safe, welcoming environment for pickleball play.
  • Supervise and support participants.
  • Promote learning, fairness, and active participation.

Tasks / Outline of responsibilities

  • Open/disarm facility (if applicable) sand prepare space.
  • Complete site inspections: report concerns to the Recreation Coordinator.
  • Track participant numbers and volunteer hours.
  • Greet and register participants.
  • Offer encouragement and explain game rules.
  • Promote safety and ensure proper equipment use.
  • Care for equipment and facilities; report issues as needed.
  • Refer inquiries to the Recreation Coordinator.

Time Commitment Expected / Length of Appointment

  • One (1) hour training session
  • Two and a half hours per week (ongoing)

Location

  • Parkside Park (Balm Beach), 32 Oliver St. (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)
  • Perkinsfield Park Pavilion, 43 County Road 6 South (Thursday)

Supervisor/Contact Person

  • Recreation Services Coordinator

Skills, experience and qualifications

  • Friendly, reliable team player with good communication.
  • Knowledge of pickleball basics.
  • Enthusiastic, punctual, fair, and appropriately dressed (Township shirt and running shoes.)

Working Conditions/Accessibility

  • Reasonable accommodations provided if needed.

Level of Risk

  • Medium risk: regular supervision and participant interaction required.
  • Moderate exposure to physical/emotional stress.
  • No cash handling; access to confidential info.

Screening, Orientation and Training

  • Agreement, waiver, checklist, and vulnerable sector check.
  • Orientation to site, role, and materials.
  • Better impact training modules.

Qualifications Required

  • Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation Training Must be Completed
  • Accessible Customer Service Training Must be Completed
  • Occupational Health & Safety Must be Completed
  • Volunteer Rights & Responsibilities Must be Completed
  • Volunteer Safety & Security Must be Completed
  • Volunteer Inclusion Training Must be Completed
