Shuffleboard Attendant – Position Description

Purpose / Goals

  • Provide a safe, welcoming environment for shuffleboard play.

  • Supervise participants and ensure fair play.

  • Encourage participation and teach basic techniques.

  • Promote safety and proper use of equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Open facility, prepare program space, and log participants/volunteer hours.

  • Greet and register participants.

  • Provide guidance, encouragement, and explain rules/safety.

  • Monitor use of equipment and report concerns.

  • Maintain care of equipment and facility.

  • Refer inquiries or issues to Recreation Services Coordinator.

  • Deliver quality municipal services.

  • Support community health, safety, and well-being.

  • Foster connection and engagement.

Commitment

  • 1-hour training session.

  • 2.5 hours weekly (Fridays).

  • Ongoing role.

Wyebridge Community Centre, 8340 Hwy 93, Tiny ON

Recreation Services Coordinator

Qualifications

  • Friendly, reliable team player with good communication skills.

  • Punctual, motivated, and fair with participants.

  • Basic knowledge of shuffleboard.

  • Appropriate attire (Township shirt/running shoes).

Working Conditions

  • Municipality provides reasonable accommodations.

  • Medium risk: occasional stress, supervision at intervals, moderate contact with participants.

  • No cash handling; may have access to confidential info.

Screening & Training

  • Volunteer Agreement, Waiver, and Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector).

  • Orientation to site, handbook, and role.

  • Training includes: role review, accessibility (AODA), customer service, workplace violence/harassment, and health & safety.

Qualifications Required

  • Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation Training Must be Completed
  • Accessible Customer Service Training Must be Completed
  • Occupational Health & Safety Must be Completed
  • Volunteer Rights & Responsibilities Must be Completed
  • Volunteer Safety & Security Must be Completed
  • Volunteer Inclusion Training Must be Completed
