Location: Village Commons - Language Support Volunteer
The Language Support Volunteers provide language translation to participants attending Carya programs at Village Commons. They may also provide moral support to group members. On occasion, they may perform outreach work to participants in their home, or via telephone or internet communication.
As a Language Support Volunteer, you should:
- Ability to speak English, and at least one other language, fluently.
- Be an empathetic, clear, and patient communicator.
- Be cheery and friendly, with curiosity, care, and flexibility in welcoming people.
- Possess a comfort, openness, and respect for working with people as they are, including diverse life experiences, culture, identity, beliefs, and values.
- Have a basic understanding of technology including iPads, laptops, and cell phones.
- Align with Carya’s values of respect, kindness, creativity, collaboration, belonging and wellness.
You’ll get to meet new faces and see regular ones. You will also have the opportunity to develop and build relationships with our participants and staff alike, sharing experiences and adding value to our community.
Through analysis of the role utilizing a Risk Assessment Matrix, we have determined this is a low-risk position, which requires successful completion of a Police Information Check (PIC). Our People & Culture Coordinator will assist you in completing this requirement.
