Nonspecific Location - Child-minder
Reporting to the Child-Minding Program Coordinator, Child-minder Volunteers play an important role in the delivery of opportunities to Carya. Childminders assist our Program Facilitators by providing care for the children of parents that are in attendance during programs and other activities. While effectively caring for children between the ages of 0 - 6, the Child-minder must use best practices. The main function of the job is engaging children in play-based activities that also ensure their safety. We provide Child-minding at our East Village Community Hub, Village Commons as well as at our Bowmont Commons Hub located in Bowness.
As a volunteer, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- A welcoming, cheery, and friendly person full of curiosity, caring, and flexibility when welcoming people
- A comfort, openness, and respect for working with people as they are, including diverse life experiences, culture, identity, beliefs, and values
- Empathetic, clear, and patient communicator
- Recent experience working with or alongside young children
- Current First Aid training is an asset
This role requires that the volunteer have a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Information Record Check.
