Gardening
Purpose: To give support to the contracted Gardening Team to help achieve an area of beauty and peace for the enjoyment of patients, visitors and those attending the Hospice.
- Maintenance of seasonal bedding display- planting, feeding and dead heading
- Maintenance of flower and shrub borders- pruning, weeding and mulching
- Grass areas- scarifying, feeding, edging and in Autumn leaf raking
- Kitchen garden and orchard - growing and harvesting produce for our Chefs to use in the kitchen
- Caring for our wildlife- building and maintaining bug hotels and nest boxes and keeping the bird feeders full
- Woodland management- to improve our wildlife diversity to include planting saplings, coppicing hazel, and planting wildflowers
- Replenishing flower borders- dividing perennial, mulching and planting shrubs and flowers
- Propagating plants- seed sowing, taking cuttings and plant division
