Rosetown and District Health Centre - Palliative Care Associate
Palliative volunteers provide social interaction and offer comfort supplies to patients and familes receiving care in the hospital. Training to accompany patients and families ensures volunteers are comfortable in their interactions and will receive gratification for their support. This will improve patient’s social wellbeing as well as physical breaks for families during this end of life experience.
Volunteers should have good communication skills, understand the dying process as well as cultural and spiritual considerations.
Volunteers must take Canadian Hospital Palliative Care Volunteer Training Modules 1-2 and 2 hours with Palliative Care Coordinators.
This is an ongoing volunteer role, shifts will vary according to need .
