
The Phillips Collection is committed to bringing Duncan Phillips’s “intimate museum combined with an experiment station” into the work environment. The Phillips seeks to build its dedicated and creative team with new volunteers.
The Phillips’s volunteers contribute meaningfully to the museum and its visitors while gaining valuable insight into the works of a major arts institution. The Phillips seeks energetic individuals from diverse background. All Volunteers are asked to make a one-year commitment.

Gallery Guard, Jack Boul (2017)
The Art Information Volunteer assists our visitors and Museum Assistants by providing information on how to navigate the museum, what exhibitions are currently up, what pieces from the permanent collection are on view, ect...
Volunteers can shadow this position for as many shifts as they wish. An updated what's on view list will be provided every time the collection rotates, and notification of what spotlight tours will be held that day will also be provided.
This position is posted in Gallery 103, our secondary lobby, where the gift shop and cafe are located as well.

Old Time Card Rack, John Frederick Peto (1900)
The Member Card Volunteer assists the Membership Associate by folding and stuffing membership cards. This can range from 100-400 membership cards per shift.
This assignment is located up in the Studio area in the 4th floor office space of the original Phillips House.

Untitled (from "Music") Ralph Gibson
The Music Will Call Volunteer is a seasonal position, which takes place almost every Sunday from October-May, during The Phillips Music season. The Will Call volunteers will assist the Guest Services and Music departments by checking concert guests tickets. If needed, volunteers will also direct guests to the Music Room and help clear the room once the concert ends.
This position is located in the Main Lobby of the museum.

Hide and Seek, William Merritt Chase (1888)
The Phillips Plays Volunteer assists the Education Department with their monthly "Phillips Plays" program. This program takes place one Saturday a month, normally the second Saturday of the month. This volunteer assists with any art activities that the Educators have developed for the event, and helps setup and clean up after the event.
This assignment takes place at The Phillips Collection, and can be in any of our galleries, and down in our Art Studio.

Teenage dance party, US, Alfred Eisenstaedt (1946)
The Third Thursday Volunteer assists the Guest Services department and Marketing & Communications department in handing out information for visitors coming in for our after hours event hosted the third Thursday of the month. The volunteer will explain to visitors what activities are on during this after hours event and help wayfind if needed.
