VOLUNTEER OPENINGS - MEMB: Associate Director of Volunteer Engagement

Summary:  Assistant to the  Director of Volunteer Engagement team with the objective to move into the Director position once thoroughly trained in the role.  Responsible for ensuring PMI-LA volunteers are receiving best-in-class service during onboarding and through their time as a volunteer for the chapter


  • In training for the Director of Volunteer Engagement role
  • Assist in managing activities of the Volunteer engagement team:

    • Volunteer Engagement Managers, VMS Tech, and Volunteer Events PMs reports to this Director
  • Attend Chapter events and continue engagement with current and potential volunteers
  • Assist in Onboarding:

    • Gather information from VPs on open volunteer positions
    • Engage new volunteers, including interviewing and email communications, and connect them with the appropriate VP
    • Familiarize self with updating volunteer records in VMS
    • Oversees new volunteer orientation and trainings
  • Engagement​:

    • Support the Membership department in engagement activities, including networking sessions
    • A point of contact for volunteers for questions or issues
    • Track active volunteers by ensuring that they are logging hours, and following up with them throughout their volunteer careers
  • Participate in planning activities for the department​
  • Refine processes to improve volunteer onboarding, recognitions and overall engagement activities
  • Familiarize self with reporting and metrics on volunteer engagement to the Board of Directors as required


Estimated Time Commitment: Approximately 2 to 3 hours per week, mostly remote.  In addition, 1 to 2 hours per month for in person chapter events and activities

Reports To: Director of Volunteer Engagement
