Community Programs Sewing Volunteers
The City of PAE Libraries have 6 Brother Sewing Machines available for community members to use across the Library service, yet many people need support in learning how to operate these machines safely and effectively.
The Community Learning team is currently recruiting Community Programs Volunteers to deliver regular sewing workshops at City of PAE Libraries. We are looking for volunteers who have a passion for sharing their skills with the community, as well as patience to teach and guide beginners. Volunteers are not expected to be experts, however a high level of sewing skills is preferable.
Responsibilities
- Support the City of PAE Libraries Community Learning team to deliver lifelong learning opportunities to the community.
- Facilitate adult beginners sewing workshops; Teaching how to operate a sewing machine safely, the basic functions of the Brother Sewing Machine, and how to do simple sewing projects such as making adjustments to clothing.
- Staff will support volunteers with preparation and group facilitation as required.

When and Where
Workshops generally run for up to 2 hours, and can be monthly or more frequently dependent on availability. Days and time are negotiable, during normal Library operating hours.
Volunteers will be based at Parks Library initially, with the option to offer workshops at Enfield, Greenacres or Port Adelaide Libraries if desired.
