Intergenerational Playgroup
Our ‘Wonder & Wisdom’ Intergenerational Playgroup connects three generations of PAE’s community (children under school age, their parents/caregivers and older residents), offering an opportunity to build wellbeing, participation and contributing through sharing stories, playing and learning together, bridging intergenerational gaps between the young and the young at heart.
The program supports PAE’s older residents to feel more connected to their community, improve their self-esteem, increase happiness and life purpose, reduce feelings of isolation, encourage friendship across generations, foster understanding and build respect between generations. In addition to the benefits to the older residents there are also significant positive outcomes for children’s emotional development and language development through making new friends, engaging with people, developing empathy, patience and learning to be respectful.
Wonder & Wisdom is a fun, relaxed program that enables children, parents/caregivers and older residents the opportunity to interact with each other while they participate in fun activities and games. All generations involved in the program have the opportunity to have fun, be creative and interact with each other in a relaxed and friendly environment.
We are seeking reliable volunteers who enjoy talking to, and interacting with, people from all generations, are able to participate in setting up and packing up equipment, love being a part of a community program and can work well in a small team.
This program is a partnership between the City of PAE and Playgroup SA.
