Community Transport
Volunteering for the Community Transport Program is a great opportunity to get to know the Port Adelaide Enfield area as well as its residents. The City of Port Adelaide Enfield offers several additional transport options to its resident.
Volunteer Community Bus Driver
The City of Port Adelaide Enfield Community Bus Service provides a fixed route service for all residents, especially for those who are unable to access public transport, have a limited income and/or mobility problems. There are four fixed circuits operating over the Council area. They provide transport to regional shopping centres, libraries, and other facilities. The buses are driven by Volunteer drivers who are committed to providing a high-quality service to their community.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and comfort of individuals or groups while they are entering, travelling and exiting from the vehicle
- Report accidents and any improper conduct by passengers to the Program Coordinator
- Follow planned routes and remain on schedule to the best of your ability
Requirements and Conditions
- SA Driver’s Licence (LR class or above)
- National Police Check
- DHS Clearance
- Successful completion of driving assessment
When and Where
The Community Bus runs on weekdays depending on route and leaves from the Kilburn Depot. Volunteers are reimbursed for their travel to and from the Depot and are rostered on a weekly/fortnightly basis.

Volunteer Home Support Van, Medical Car and Weekend Outings Driver
The Home Support Van provides door to door transport to elderly residents taking them shopping, on special weekend outings and social activities. This service is for people who are frail aged or have a disability (HACC eligible)
- Includes our Home Support Vans that provide door to door transport to elderly residents, taking them shopping, on special weekend outings and social activities.
- Transport to medical appointments (Volunteers use a council vehicle).
This program aims to enrich the lives of frail aged, disabled and socially isolated residents to maintain independent living in their own home.
Responsibilities

- Valid SA Driver’s Licence
- National Police Check

- COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate
When and Where
The Home Support Vans and Medial Cars run on weekdays. Volunteers will meet at the Willochra Depot to begin their shift. Volunteers are reimbursed for their travel to and from the Depot and are rostered on a weekly or fortnightly basis or by agreement.
