Adult Literacy Program
Adult Literacy Program Support Volunteer (eastern suburbs)
We are seeking English speaking volunteers to assist with our Adult Literacy Program. This is a new adult literacy program providing 1-to-1 tutoring for people looking to improve their reading and writing skills. Volunteer tutors will be matched with a participant and will meet regularly at a mutually convenient time and place for 1 hour per week.
Responsibilities
- Provide one to one literacy support to adult learners.
- Volunteer tutors share their skills and knowledge and work in an equal partnership towards the students’ goals patiently and without judgement.
- Help to support adults with reading, literacy and basic numeracy skills.
Requirements and Conditions
- Good level of literacy and numeracy skills and dexterity
- National Police Check
- DHS Clearance
When and Where
- A mutually agreed on public location and time for 1 hour per week. A commitment of 1 year is desirable. Seeking volunteers who live in eastern suburbs or willing to travel.
