Volunteer Role Description

Role Title:

 

1.Responsible to:

Congyue Liu (Clinical behaviour specialist)

2.Where:

Waltham Forest Community Learning Disabilities Team CLDT (Adults)

30 Coleridge Road

London

E17 6QU

3.When:

Any time between 9:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday

Can be discussed based on Volunteer’s preferences and availabilities

 

Please note: volunteering hours are not to exceed 6 hours per day and 3 days per week

4.Commitment:

Minimum 6 month commitment

5.Role Tasks:

you may be asked to:

  • Facilitate behavioural data collecting and monitoring under supervision.
  • Complete follow-ups on behaviour support plan under supervision
  • Facilitate in clinical individual/group sessions under clinician’s supervision– meet and greet patients, set up appt, co-facilitate group sessions, etc
  • Facilitate carer training (Parents/staff) either in clinic base or community settings with supervision
  • Provide clinical admin support on occasion

 

you will NOT be asked to:

  • To provide direct work/support with clients or carers without supervision
  • To design care plan or behaviour support plan for individuals
  • To take clinical responsibilities and decisions

6.Skills and Attributes Required:

  • Have Knowledge and/or experience of working in a community LD team
  • Or have knowledge and/or experience of working with neurodiversity
  • Have experience of running group activities
  • Be able to work under direction
  • Have good verbal and written communication skills
  • Have interests or experiences in behaviour analysis (desirable)

9.COVID-19 Guidance

In line with government advice volunteers must:

    • Be healthy, fit and well
    • Not fall into one of the population groups that are considered to be more vulnerable to COVID-19
  • All volunteers must be made aware of the need to stop volunteering should they feel unwell and to follow the latest government and NHS advice for the public especially regarding COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Training, guidance and induction to be provided via e-learning or

virtual technology where possible

 

10.Support / Training

All new volunteers will receive a local induction and will be required to undertake mandatory training.

 

11.Expenses

Volunteers can claim expenses for mileage as per volunteer handbook
