Ward Support - Mountnessing Court, Billericay, Essex

WARD SUPPORT VOLUNTEERS

We are looking for a number of people to assist as Ward Support Volunteers in our inpatient wards at Mountnessing Court, Billericay, Essex. 

Mountnessing Court has busy Intermediate care wards which provide rehabilitation to patients over the age of 18. The wards provide physical rehabilitation to patients to foster independence and to increase mobility.

In order to enhance services and service user experience we are hoping to recruit volunteers to assist in facilitating the group programme on the ward. Providing activities which are of interest to our service users and or helps build their skills will aid their recovery. Volunteering in this role would include the following tasks:

  • Chatting and listening to patients.
  • Helping patients with small tasks such as reading the newspaper or watching TV.
  • Support patients to engage in activities, such as group exercises, group activities, socialise with other patients.
  • Supporting patients to eat and drink by providing social and physical help at mealtimes. i.e. cutting up food, helping to choose food from the menu, pouring drinks, having lunch with a patient.
  • Hand care, washing and creaming hands, massage, nail varnish application (only as directed by medically trained staff)
  • Playing games with patients 

 

 Ward Support Volunteers need to be:

  • Warm and friendly
  • Motivating and enthusiastic
  • Creative
  • Able to communicate with groups or 1:1 with patients.
  • Confident in talking to professional staff.
