Finance - NEW!! Grameen Foundation International Operations Training Program

SUMMARY Grameen Foundation’s (GF) finance department seeks a volunteer to develop a training program and various materials (based on existing policies and procedures) for GF field office management staff. The volunteer may work remotely. Suggested start date: May 15, 2011. End date: August 01, 2011. Dates are negotiable. BACKGROUND Grameen Foundation (GF) empowers the world’s poorest people to escape poverty through access to financial services and practical technology. Founded in 1997 by a group of friends who were inspired by the work of Muhammad Yunus and the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, our innovations, programs and resources have helped more than 45 million people in Sub Saharan Africa, Asia, the Arab World, and the Americas begin their journey out of poverty. With microfinance and technology as our foundation, we connect people and local institutions across the globe that share our vision of shattering the barriers for the billion people trying to live on less than a dollar a day. For more information, please visit us at www.grameenfoundation.org. CHALLENGE Over the last two years GF has focused on decentralizing its activities in order to be closer to the poor. We have opened six field offices in the Philippines, Ghana, Hong Kong, Uganda, Kenya and Colombia and one wholly-owned subsidiary; Grameen Foundation India. While GF has created various finance, human resources, IT, legal, and operations policies, we do not have a coordinated training program to ensure that field office management is familiar with and comfortable in implementing GF’s policies and procedures. PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES The volunteer will be expected to provide the following support: - Become familiar with all policies and procedures related to GF’s international operations, including close communication and coordination with key personnel across support departments; - Review GF’s existing technology to build and deploy trainings; - Create a project plan; - Transform disparate policies and procedures into a coordinated training program with consistent content and look and feel; and - Produce a final training program and agenda. PROJECT DELIVERABLES: The volunteer will provide the following deliverables: - Project plan, approved by the CFO, to design and develop the module; - Draft training to be provided to key support personnel for feedback; - Final training module which will include revisions from initial draft. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES The finance team sees one volunteer with the following skills: - Deep commitment to eradication of poverty and alignment with Grameen Foundation’s mission; - Two years of experience (or equivalent education) in adult education and/or training; - Experience in international organizations, especially in field offices is strongly preferred; - Strong oral and written communication skills; - Maintain high level of confidentiality of all organization, personnel and research matters; - Exceptional organizational skills, detail-oriented and efficient. TIMELINE AND LOCATION The volunteer will be expected to work up to 20 hours a week. The work can be held remotely. Suggested start date: May 15, 2011. End date: August 01, 2011. Dates are negotiable.
