Availability: 30-40 hours/week. Days and hours negotiable. Must fall within regular business hours of 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Summary:
The Development Intern supports the Development department with fundraising efforts. S/he will form part of a dynamic group within Grameen Foundation by assisting with projects including coordinating local events, communicating through social media, maintaining an accurate donor database, and providing general administrative support. The Development Intern will report to the Development Assistant.
Essential Internship Position Functions:
• Assist with expanding GF’s prospective pool of donors by researching foundations and potential donors that align with GF’s mission.
• Help the Annual Giving team steward current donors and reach prospective donors. Activities may include fulfilling donor information requests and researching prospects.
• Assist with Grameen Foundation’s offline and online communications. Activities include updating informational flyers, drafting and/or posting social media messages, and writing and editing copy for e-blasts, blog posts, and/or e-newsletter stories.
• Plan a holistic strategy in preparation for the Combined Federal Campaign in Fall 2011. This includes an advertising strategy including print and digital ads, and contacting appropriate
• Maintain regular, timely correspondence with donors through thank you letters.
• Maintain accurate information in donor database.
• Provide general administrative support as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The Development Intern must possess a passion and commitment to our mission to end global poverty, and a willingness to learn. A qualified candidate must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment with interaction with all levels of GF staff. The candidate must also pay attention to detail; have strong communication skills, both written and verbal; and excellent interpersonal skills. The Summer intern will be assisting with regular donor communications and planning and preparing for the busy fundraising season – the fall/winter. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite is required; experience with fundraising and constituency software is a plus. Experience in marketing, fundraising or communications helpful. Video editing and graphic design experience a plus. Demonstration of past leadership experience desired.
Education and Experience:
Recent college graduate preferred with degree in business, marketing, communications, public administration, international relations, or other relevant field. Junior, Senior, or Graduate student enrolled in an accredited college or university also accepted.
Schedule Summary:
This position will be based in our new D.C. office near McPherson Square; Schedule and position responsibilities are flexible based on availability and candidate’s skill set.
