Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh!

Please apply for clearances before creating a profile in Better Impact. Most of our volunteer opportunities require clearances, with the exception of WeLearn.

For those who have lived in Pennsylvania for 10 years or longer, we will need your PA State Police Criminal History Clearance AND your PA Child Abuse clearance. For those who have lived outside of Pennsylvania in the past five years we will need your FBI fingerprint clearance as well as the two clearances linked above. Please reach out by emailing volunteers@carnegielibrary.org and we can give you directions to get FBI clearances free of cost. We are not able to schedule 1:1 appointments to help volunteers get clearances at this time.

Our current volunteer openings are below.

WeLearn Facilitators at multiple CLP branches

Next training is Thursday December 12, 2024 at 5:00PM.

Interested in working with adults, or learning a new skill with your peers? WeLearn Facilitators lead groups of 4-15 adult participants through peer-to-peer learning in topics of interest identified by the the volunteer and community for six or eight weekly sessions. Each learning circle utilizes online resources to further learning and meets in person at a CLP branch to discuss. You don’t need to be an expert on a topic or have experience teaching—we'll help you develop all the tools you need in our Facilitator Training! If you want to prepare by viewing some (but not all) possible courses you could facilitate in your own We Learn Circle, check out this page with topics and resource guides. Please express your interest in this training and opportunity by emailing volunteers@carnegielibrary.org.

Learning Circle Facilitators must be at least 18 years of age.
