Local History Day Volunteer: Main

November 4th from 10:30- 4:30

Local History Day (previous Historic Pittsburgh Fair) allows local libraries, archives, historical societies, and community organizations to share their collections, and information about their organizations, with a broad audience. This year's theme is “Bridges of Belonging: Connecting Communities through History, Culture, and Stories.” We usually get several hundred visitors. The event will be held on the second and third floors of CLP-Main. Volunteers for this event will assist CLP-Main staff with Local History Day. Volunteers will direct exhibitors upon arrival at Main for their setup, provide supervision if exhibitors need to step away from their table momentarily, and direct exhibitors to the elevators/exits when the event is over. Please sign up for this training through your MyImpactPage profile.

This opportunity is open to 4 volunteers and Local History Day Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

WeLearn Facilitators at multiple CLP branches

Next training is Saturday, December 9th from 1-4:30pm at CLP-Carrick

Interested in working with adults, or learning a new skill with your peers? WeLearn Facilitators lead groups of 4-15 adult participants through peer-to-peer learning in topics of interest identified by the the volunteer and community for six or eight weekly sessions. Each learning circle utilizes online resources to further learning and meets in person at a CLP branch to discuss. You don’t need to be an expert on a topic or have experience teaching—we'll help you develop all the tools you need in our Facilitator Training! If you want to prepare by viewing some (but not all) possible courses you could facilitate in your own We Learn Circle, check out this page with topics and resource guides. The next Learning Circle Facilitator Training will be from 1-4:30 on Saturda, December 9th at CLP- Carrick (1811 Brownsville Road Pittsburgh PA 15210)
