Food Pantry Volunteer Opportunities

One time/Group opportunities

Food Pantry Food Rescue Drivers

Food Rescue Drivers: Volunteers pick up donated food items from various grocery stores and restaurants and deliver to pantry. To apply for this opportunity select "Fill in an application" on the right side of the screen.

Food Pantry Daily Window and Monthly Box Volunteers

Daily Window Volunteers: Assist clients at the daily window at Catholic Charities Food Pantry, hand out food to clients. This opportunity may require some minor heavy lifting. To apply for this opportunity select "Fill in an application" on the right hand side of the screen.

Monthly Box/Grocery Volunteers: Assist clients with their monthly supply box and lead them through the “grocery” side of Food Pantry. To apply for this opportunity select "Fill in an application" on the right hand side of the screen.

About Catholic Charities of Des Moines Food Pantry

The Catholic Charities’ Food Pantry is a member of the Des Moines Area Religious Council Food Pantry Network and partners with the Food Bank of Iowa to provide nutritious food to the hungry. Those in need can receive a three-day supply of food once per month at no cost. Additionally, the daily food counter is open to anyone during their business hours: Monday-Thursday 10:00 am-3:30 pm and Friday 9:30 am-12:30 pm. Fresh produce, dairy products, rice, Meals from the Heartland, and beans are available while supplies last. Bread is available every day for families in need regardless of their address. Families may take up to two loaves per day per household.
