Nature Foundation offers 4 areas of volunteering involvement which are connected to our strategic plan and helps us achieve our goals.

We have roles to suit all types of people and commitments in our 4 volunteer involving categories.

  • Small groups of volunteers for irregular one-off activities to regular flexibly scheduled activities.
  • A regular weekly commitment in the office, or a large group working bee across a weekend in one of our nature reserves.
  • A 2 week stay between April 1 and October 31 on one of our remote nature reserves focused on supporting visitor engagement, conservation and infrastructure activities.
  • Helping across a range of dates in a project building or maintaining Nature Reserve infrastructure.

Our Volunteer Roles

Conservation

Conservation roles include:

  • Planting Day and event hosts.
  • Revegetation activities.
  • Weed Control activities.
  • Feral Animal Control activities
  • Camera Trap checks.
  • Fence monitoring and minor repairs.
  • Animal surveys and reporting.
  • Minor projects to support conservation activities.

Tourism

Tourism roles include:

  • Reserve Host Wichelina Nature Reserve
  • Reserve Host Hiltaba Nature Reserve
  • Philanthropy Events Assistant - Reserves
  • Member and Groups support assistant - Reserves

Infrastructure

 

Infrastructure works are scheduled projects across the calendar year and may include the involvement of contractors and/or volunteers with qualifications in specific trades as well as general hands who have skills and experience in rural or remote property maintenance. 

Types of roles:

Trade qualified work: electrical, power/linesman, building and construction, Carpentry, plumbing, Solar installations, Information technology, plant and vehicle mechanic.

General Hand work: Fencing installation and repairs, minor building repairs and maintenance, irrigation installation and maintenance, painting, minor mechanical repairs and maintenance, grader and frontend loader operation, road maintenance, gardening and minor landscaping, signage installation, minor concreting, rainwater tank installations.

Projects

Project Volunteers work on specific project which requires a specific skillset. These are based in the Nature Foundation Office or work from home as negotiated. 

Call outs or advertising for specific projects will be made when required.

Examples of project tasks include;

  • Administration
  • Editing / proofing
  • Governance and policy writing
  • Grants writing or acquittal 
  • Philanthropy and event support 
  • Volunteer program support
