Thank you for considering becoming a Bluegrass Care Navigator Volunteer. Our volunteers bring warmth, compassion and support to patients and the families that we serve. Volunteers are an integral part of our team. It takes a special kind of person to volunteer with Bluegrass Care Navigators and therefore all potential volunteers are carefully screened and are required to complete a comprehensive training program that is aligned with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO).
Things to consider before applying:
Serving: Fayette and Jessamine Counties
"Being a hospice patient once myself, I know first-hand the importance and benefits
of the care that is provided to patients. Being a former volunteer administrator
for a hospice in New Jersey, I know the importance and benefits of the care
that is provided to patients. Being a volunteer at BCN, I again realize the
importance and benefits of the care that is provided to patients.
I see a pattern."

One basic value of hospice care is that no one should die alone without support or the presence of loved ones. In addition to caring for the patient, the loved ones of hospice patients deserve and benefit from support as well. Eleventh-hour volunteers are trained to keep vigil and provide that supportive presence to patients and families in the final hours of life. Requires additional training. |
