Medshare - West

Please note that this website is meant for scheduling volunteer opportunities as an individual. If you would like to schedule a group opportunity, please contact our staff to schedule a session about 2 weeks in advance for a weekday session or at least 2-3 months for a weekend shift. You may email our staff at with the details of your group, including the number of people you would schedule and any preferred dates you have in mind.

Our volunteers learn to sort, identify, and package critical medical supplies that will be shipped to under-served hospitals and clinics in developing countries around the world. The sorting sessions are three hours long and take place at our San Leandro Distribution Center located at 2937 Alvarado St. San Leandro CA 94577. Individuals must be at least 14 years of age to volunteer independently. A brief tour and orientation is conducted for all new volunteers at the beginning of the session, so punctuality is important. Closed toe shoes are required and casual attire is recommended and dress according to the weather as our warehouse is not temperature controlled. Once you successfully sign up for a shift, you are confirmed to attend. If you need to cancel your session after signing up, we request that you cancel online one week in advance so others may have the opportunity to join in your place. Feel free to reschedule for another time most convenient for your schedule.

Please note that MedShare is not a host site for court ordered or mandated service hours. If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to contact our volunteer programs staff at We look forward to partnering together and working with you soon!
