Medical Driver
Position Title: Medical Driver
Location
Abbotsford Seniors Active Living Centre
Goal of the Position
• Drive clients (seniors and adults with disabilities living independently in the community) to their medical appointments.
Position Responsibilities
• Phone clients the day before their drive to confirm details and arrange pickup time.
• Arrive on time to pick up clients. Drive to their appointment. Provide client with phone number to call when done. Return to the agreed upon pickup spot when client is done and drive them home.
• Provide availability to program facilitator weekly. Confirm drives assigned. Report any client updates or drive feedback to facilitator promptly.
Position Boundaries
• Does not provide medical, financial, or personal advice.
• Follows direction of Program Facilitator.
Qualifications
- Fluency in English required, Intermediate skills in other language considered an asset.
- Valid Driver’s License and clear Driver’s abstract.
- Access to a vehicle in good working order with liability insurance of $2 million.
Other Requirements
- Valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Completion of General Onboarding Training
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License and clear Driver’s Abstract
- Vehicle in good running order and insurance of $2 Million liability
Risk Assessment
Risk Level: High risk – Driving medically vulnerable clients with no direct staff supervision present.
Training and Supervision
Orientation provided by the Transportation Program Facilitator and Volunteer Coordinator.
Time Commitment
• Respond promptly to weekly availability emails and drive requests from staff.
• Half-day time commitment for each drive. Drives scheduled according to need and driver availability. We will work within your schedule.
