Ecological Restoration Events - Memory Island Scotch Broom Sweep

Meet us on Memory Island on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 11:00am-1:00pm to help us keep Memory island broom-free!
All of the large Scotch broom plants were removed by volunteers and Student Park Rangers over the past few years so this year we are doing a sweep of the island to remove the younger broom plants that have sprouted up.
Bring your boat and we'll supply the rest. Volunteer tools, PPE and light refreshments will be provided.
Boat launches are available at Recreation Road Boat Launch, Shawnigan Wharf Park and West Shawnigan Lake Park. The closest lake access to Memory Island is at the end of Bell Irving Rd. (map)
