Volunteering with Access Health and Community (AccessHC) is a fantastic way to share your skills and make a real difference in your community.  Volunteer

With a variety of roles on offer, we recruit volunteers to positions that suit their skills, interests and availability. 

Our volunteer program is well established with over 100 people providing more than 7,000 hours of service every year.

Current Volunteering Opportunities

Access 2 Community

Volunteer Community Connectors

Come use your skills to help people in our community and build social connections with our Access to Community program. Our program provides social support to people wanting to build their social connections by matching participants with a Volunteer Community Connector who helps to link individuals to community and social activities.

 

As a Community Connector, you can:

  • introduce people to new social activities in the local area
  • help people find the activities they are interested in or love
  • build peoples’ confidence in creating new social connections
  • having meaningful conversations with people, including meeting in public spaces and places.

Babies OK

Volunteers with the Baby’s OK What About You? Group work in partnership with other volunteers to provide care and supervision of infants (and occasional older sibling) whilst their mothers attend a group for new mothers who are struggling in an adjacent room.

Volunteers assist with the setup and tidying of the rooms involved, preparation of food and care of infants.

Community Support Worker

The Community Support Worker Volunteer provides high quality information, support and referral services, and emergency relief to clients in a confidential and impartial manner, enabling clients to make their own decisions and choices. 

 

Volunteers are provided training through CisVic and onsite mentoring to equip them with knowledge and skills to: 

  • work with people experiencing personal and financial hardship,
  • assess the diverse and multi-faceted needs of people accessing our services; and
  • determine the appropriate response required to meet those needs.

 

 

The CSW role involves

  • Interviewing Clients
  • Information Provision 
  • Administrative Duties
  • Reception and Customer Service 
  • Outreach  
  • Professional Development and Training 

 

Front Office Team - Camcare

Volunteers in the Front Office Team include roles such as:

  • Community Support Workers
  • Reception Volunteers
  • Emergency Food Relief Volunteers
  • Administration Volunteers
  • Special Event Volunteers.

These roles are many and varied and can include duties such as:

  • greeting clients and answering phones at reception
  • general administrative duties
  • support clients to access various internal and external services within the community
  • sort and catalogue donations of food for the Emergency Food Relief Program
  • support one of events within Camcare such as Christmas hampers, food drives etc.

Repair Cafe

 

Trentwood at the Hub facilitates a monthly Repair Café where community members can bring items that need repairing.  Our team of volunteers help people learn how to fix their items for themselves.  It is a free, friendly meeting place.

The Repair Cafe team is currently looking for a volunteer to assist with the administration of the volunteer program. The role includes managing volunteer attendance, keeping the team updated on information and planning as well as other administration tasks. Supported Playgroup

The Supported Playgroup is a group for parents of young children (0-4 years) to come together to learn and enjoy stories, songs and rhymes. The group aims to support parents with parenting and their relationship with their children.

Supported Playgroup Volunteers offer their time, enthusiasm and encouragement to support our clients in this program. They provide practical support to children and parents to enable them to participate in the program. This includes assisting with the set up of the program and morning tea. 

The playgroup runs across three different sites (Templestowe, Hawthorn and Donvale) throughout the week.

Child and Family

The Child and Family team are looking for volunteers to assist with their Monday Music Groups that are held in Greythorn and their Tuesday Supported playgroup that is run in Donvale.

Volunteers with the Child and Family team will assist the team in supporting families attending the groups in various ways.

If you are interested in volunteering with our Child and Family team please complete an Expression of Interest form and one of our Child and Family team will be in contact with you.

Camcare - Camberwell and Ashburton

Access Health and Community's Camcare site is seeking volunteers for various roles. Camcare provides community and practical support to those living in the Boroondara area. Services at Camcare include, but not limited to emergency food relief and counselling. 

Camcare is seeking volunteers for reception and administrative roles and Community Support Workers.
