EVENT NAME: Up Your Alley Street Fair EVENT DESCRIPTION: Up Your Alley is one of the premier fetish and leather events in the world, celebrating alternative lifestyles. Up Your Alley Street Fair (also known as Dore Alley) is produced by Folsom Street Events, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization serving the adult San Francisco alternative communities. Through the production of street fairs, Folsom Street Events promotes diversity within the leather/alternative lifestyle, highlighting entertainment, service and vendors. Proceeds from the production of the fairs are distributed to organizations , including Breast Cancer Emergency Fund, which promote a sense of community, diversity, cooperation, health and human services. BCEF is a major beneficiary of Folsom Street Events, producers of Up Your Alley Street Fair and Folsom Street Fair. As a major beneficiary, we have committed to providing volunteers to fill the enormous staffing needs of these street fairs, saving them thousands of dollars. These savings are then passed on to the beneficiaries in the form of grants. SPECIFIC VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION: Set-up Volunteers help set up the Fairgrounds. This is an early shift, starting at 6:00 AM for Up Your Alley; please do not sign up for this shift unless you're sure you can be there at 6 AM. Strenuous work involving unloading trucks and lifting or pushing heavy objects. Might also require some messy clean-up work (gloves will be provided). If you have physical handicaps, a bad back, or are squeamish or plan on being out all night before the Fair, then this job is not for you. The good news is that once you've finished your Set-up shift, you're free to enjoy the Fair the rest of the day! SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED: Must be able to lift and do physical labor. NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: 1 WHAT TO WEAR OR BRING: Work clothes and comfortable shoes. Also, it can be cold on Dore Alley that early in the morning. Dress appropriately. DATE: Sunday, July 25, 2010 EVENT TIME: 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM YOUR SHIFT TIME: 6:00 AM to 10:30 AM PLACE: Up Your Alley Street Fair is located in San Francisco's SoMa district on Dore Alley between Folsom and Howard Streets, the adjoining block of Folsom Street between 9th and Juniper Streets and on to Tenth St. REPORT TO (location): Volunteer Tent, located on Dore Alley at Folsom Street, between 9th and 10th Streets.
