Breakfast Club
Ensure that the cats have ample and clean food and water, as well as a clean and comfortable living space while in the shelter. Assist the Animal Care staff in maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in the cat housing areas.
This is the position for you if YOU:
- Are at least 12 years of age and have an adult partner to accompany you if younger than 16.
- Are an early riser!
- Don’t mind a sometimes stinky work environment.
- Prefer working directly with cats and doesn’t mind cleaning cages, changing litter boxes, cleaning up excrement, and providing them with fresh food and water to keep their comfort up and reduce stress.
- Are not bothered by getting a little dirty or getting animal hair on clothes.
What can you expect from your role as a Breakfast club Volunteer?
Duties include:
- Must follow written procedures and verbal directions accurately, especially those regarding safety and sanitation. Work with Animal Care staff personnel to provide animal husbandry. Wash and sanitize food bowls, litter pans, toys and other items used by the animals. Assist in washing, drying and folding of towels, blankets, beds and other items used by the animals.

Training:
- Attend a Volunteer Information Night.
- Attend a Volunteer Orientation.
- Attend Safe Animal Handling training.
- On-the-job training.
Commitment: At least two hours per week, same day and time each week.
Supervision: Direct supervision by the Animal Care staff.
Available volunteer shifts include: 8:30am – 11am, Monday – Sunday
