Are you passionate about improving healthcare in your community? Do you want to play a key role in shaping how developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) screening is delivered in rural and Indigenous communities?

About the Opportunity:

We are seeking 5-7 PaCER students to collaborate on a groundbreaking initiative to improve infant hip screening in Alberta. As a PaCER student, you will receive specialized training to conduct research by, for, and with the community. Your unique perspectives and lived experiences will help ensure that this program addresses the real needs of patients, families, and caregivers.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Work with healthcare providers and community members to co-develop culturally appropriate DDH screening practices.
  • Help create patient-centered tools, such as video consent materials and educational resources.
  • Engage with families, caregivers, and individuals with lived experience of hip dysplasia to understand their needs and perspectives.
  • Contribute to building sustainable healthcare solutions for rural and Indigenous communities.

Who Should Apply:

We welcome applicants with:

  • Lived experience of hip dysplasia or as caregivers of infants with DDH.
  • Connections or living in rural or Indigenous communities.
  • Interest in health research and improving your community health outcomes.
  • A willingness to collaborate and share their unique insights.

No prior research experience is required! Training will be provided through the PaCER program
