O - Health Policy and Advocacy - Health Policy Committee Chairperson
Appointed by the President-Elect with Board approval for a 2 year term, the first year serving as designate. Monitors legislative and regulatory issues impacting nephrology nursing practice and the patients to whom care is provided, coordinates educational activities and materials involving ANNA and ESRD health policy decision-making, identifies need to amend or initiate new positions statements, promotes members understanding of health policy at all levels of the organization. (See ANNA website for detail about qualifications/requirements and role description, including time commitments and meeting expectations) Full member of ANNA for 3 years, member of ANA and/or state nurses' association preferred; 5 years of practice in nephrology nursing, nephrology nursing certification preferred; demonstrates public speaking and writing skills; past attendance at NIWI and/or ANNA Health Policy Workshop. Knowledge of software and access to computer facilitated communication for E-mail and word processing.
