O - Health Policy and Advocacy - Health Policy Advisor

Selected by the Health Policy Committee Chairperson in collaboration with the National Director for a 2 year term, the first year serving as designate. For respective region, monitors and responds to legislative and regulatory issues impacting nephrology nursing practice and the patients to whom care is provided; participates in coordinating educational activities and materials involving ANNA and ESRD health policy decision-making, and responds to requests to amend or initiate new positions statements, promotes members understanding of health policy. Recruits State Health Policy Directors and serves as a resource to them. (See ANNA website for detail about qualifications/requirements and role description, including time commitments and meeting expectations) Full member of ANNA. member of ANA and/or state nurses' association preferred; 2 years of practice in nephrology nursing, nephrology nursing certification preferred; demonstrates public speaking and writing skills; past attendance at NIWI and/or ANNA Health Policy Workshop. Knowledge of software and access to computer facilitated communication for E-mail and word processing.
