Dog Foster Program

The Dog Foster Program provides a vital lifeline for dogs in need by placing them in temporary, loving homes while they await adoption, medical clearance, or additional support. Foster volunteers play a key role in helping us save lives and give each dog the individual care, stability, and attention they deserve.

Our program includes a variety of foster opportunities:

Adult Dogs - Provide a home environment for adult dogs who benefit from time outside the shelter to decompress, learn household routines, and become more adoptable.

Puppies - Care for young puppies who need a safe, structured environment for growth, socialization, and early learning before they are ready for adoption.

Mom & Nursing Puppies - Foster mother dogs and their litters, offering a quiet, secure space for nursing, bonding, and healthy puppy development.

Weaned Puppies - Support young puppies as they transition from nursing to solid food, focusing on socialization, basic training, play, and confidence-building.

Medical Fosters - Care for dogs recovering from illness, injury, or surgery by providing a calm, comfortable home where they can rest and heal while following medical instructions.

Special Behavior Fosters - Work with dogs who may need extra time, structure, or patience to build confidence, learn positive behaviors, and adjust to home life.

Fostering is flexible and deeply rewarding - whether for a few days, a few weeks, or longer, every foster home helps save lives, creates space in the shelter, and gives dogs the best chance at finding their forever families.
