Community Engagement Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana runs community based troops year-round that provide at-risk girls with a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.

One that empowers them with skills that are essential for success in school and in life, such as critical thinking, problem solving and leadership skills.

The program serves more than 5,000 girls annually from the South and West sides of Chicago, Proviso Township (Maywood, Bellwood and Melrose Park), Joliet and northwest Indiana.

Our community based troops supplement the classroom and fills gaps in girls' education. The program operates in partnership with schools and youth-serving organizations and focuses on three key subject areas: STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math), financial literacy and healthy living.

One Time Volunteering

Come make an impact on girls in your community and watch as they make an impact on the world! That’s right. As a Girl Scout volunteer, YOU have the potential to change girls’ lives and help them build their own success—whatever that looks like to them.

Spend a few hours, or a full day, and then you’re done!  Coming back for other one-time events is always an option.
