Wild ARC - Outreach, Events & Fundraising

Scroll down to read full position descriptionOutreach, Events & Fundraising Do you love wildlife? Do you want to volunteer for a rehabilitation centre that helps more than 2,000 animals a year? BC SPCA Wild ARC is currently seeking volunteers to help educate the public about wildlife rehabilitation and the work of Wild ARC at markets, fairs, and other community outreach events.  Responsibilities (Listed in order of time spent)  Staff Wild ARC booth at community events. Share information with members of the public about wildlife rehabilitation, Wild ARC, and the BC SPCA. Assist outreach team members or event organizers on behalf of Wild ARC. Set‑up, take down and troubleshoot at outreach events, receive pick up or drop off outreach material at Wild ARC. Help our Regional Fundraising Coordinator in receiving Wild ARC revenue. Administer micro‑fundraising initiatives such as coin box campaigns or receipt collections. Use information packets of the public—or on behalf of Wild ARC at a kiosk or kiosk for donations or other support.   Requirements & Training  16 years or older with guardian/parent consent. Knowledge of wildlife rehabilitation vision, values and strategic directions. Excellent verbal communication skills. Comfortable speaking with and sharing information. Punctual and reliable. No previous Wild ARC or wildlife knowledge is necessary, training will be provided. Fundraising experience is an asset but no essential; training will be provided as needed. Completion of online Volunteer Orientation. Training shifts shadowing a senior Outreach team member.   Volunteering Conditions  Indoor and Outdoor Settings: Volunteers may work both indoors and outdoors, depending on the tasks and location of community events. Weather Conditions: Outdoor tasks may require volunteers to work under varying weather conditions. Clothing and Footwear: Volunteers should dress appropriately for the weather and for prolonged periods of standing. Lifting and Moving: Volunteers may have to lift or move lightweight items for set‑up or tear‑down. Standing and Walking: Many events involve long periods of standing, walking and moving periodically.   Youth Volunteers  Youth between the ages of 16–18 can volunteer with the consent of their guardians. Youth volunteers must follow all requirements and training guidelines. Some fundraising activities and tasks may require additional supervision. For more details or to submit an application, please contact volunteers@spca.bc.ca. Due to insurance policies, no youth under 16 years old.   Time Commitment  This role is on call, with events often scheduled during the day on weekends, or in the evenings.
